The Local NHS in Birmingham and Solihull has started a programme to improve the Health of the population. There are 5 simple annual tests that we will be offering to individuals over 45 or younger if they have already known health problems.
- A Urine ACR test that can check if your Kidneys are leaky
- A Blood Pressure for risk of stroke or Heart Attack
- A Triple Blood Test from One Sample
- GFR test for Kidney Function
- An HbA1c test for early Diabetes
- Cholesterol test for too much cholesterol
At Omnia we will be starting the program over the next few months.
- We will be adding these tests into any regular blood tests you may have
- We will also be asking you to provide a urine sample, when you may only need to collect a bottle from reception and after collecting the sample to return the sample to Reception
- At other times we would ask you to book an appointment for a blood pressure or blood test as well as the urine ACR Test
- We will also as for blood pressures if you have access to a machine or to attend your Pharmacist
So what is the benefit?
- If your tests are good then you can be reassured and keep up a healthy lifestyle
- If you have early problems we can advise on healthy lifestyle to prevent it getting worse and we will repeat the tests annually.
- If there are more significant issues we can start medication to control the problem
The Trials have been done and they have repeatedly confirmed the health benefit of this approach.
