Prescriptions

How do I order my Repeat Prescription?

Patients on long-term medication can order repeat prescriptions in a number of ways:

A repeat prescription is a prescription which you and your doctor have agreed previously can be requested using the repeat slip for certain drugs. Your doctor will give you are computer generated slip for these medicines and you will not need to make an appointment with the doctor to obtain a prescription unless the medication needs to be ‘re-authorised’.

Prescription will be ready 2 working days after ordering. Please collect prescriptions after 14:00.

Pharmacies

A trip to your local pharmacy could save you a visit to your GP as pharmacists can offer advice on many minor ailments and injuries. Many also offer services such as diabetes and anticoagulation (blood thinning) clinics and, thanks to recent NHS changes, more pharmacies will be offering a greater number of services.

Lloyds Pharmacy at Omnia

You can request that your pharmacist order your repeat prescription with the surgery, pick it up and deliver it to you on a regular basis.

We are delighted that patients are now able to access an excellent pharmacy service within the practice itself. No need to face the rain – just use the link corridor should you wish. The pharmacy is open 5 days a week and stays open until 23:00 every night of the week.

There is a security guard outside every evening to ensure the safety of patients and staff on dark evenings. So if you have just visited badger and need a prescription – Lloyds will be open until late for you! Contact them on 0121 772 4394.

Medication Reviews

Patients on repeat medication will be asked to consult with a pharmacist, a doctor, nurse practitioner or practice nurse at least once a year to review these regular medications. The notification date should appear on your repeat slip.

Please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions. If you have been advised by the surgery that your medication review is due, you will need to fill out our Medication Review Form.

Electronic Prescription Service (EPS)

The Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) is a NHS service that allows us to send your prescription(s) directly to your chosen pharmacy. This paper-free prescription service means that you do not have to come into the surgery to collect your prescription.

We encourage all patients to register for this free service. You can register for electronic prescribing by completing our EPS registration form.
