The Omnia PracticeThe Local NHS in Birmingham and Solihull has built on the current 5 yearly Health Check Programme to provide resources for General Practices to offer further annual tests and earlier access to medications to preserve your health.
There are 3 simple annual tests that we will be offering to individuals over 45 or younger if they have already known health problems.
1. A Urine ACR test that can check if your Kidneys are leaky
2. A Blood Pressure for risk of stroke or Heart Attack
3. A Triple Blood Test from One Sample
- GFR test for Kidney Function
- HbA1c test for early Diabetes
- Cholesterol test for too much cholesterol
At Omnia; we will be starting the program over the next few months. With your consent;
- We will be adding these tests into any regular blood tests you may have
- We will also be asking you to provide a urine sample; you may only need to collect a bottle from reception and after collecting the sample to return the sample to Reception
So what are the benefits?
- If your tests are good then you can be reassured and encouraged to keep up a healthy lifestyle
- If you have early problems we can advise on healthy lifestyle to prevent it getting worse and we will repeat the tests annually.
- If there are more significant issues we can start medication to control the problem
